About the event
The Jewish festival of Shavuot is known as Pentecost, celebrating the descent of the Holy Spirit upon the disciples in Acts 2.
While it has roots as an ancient Jewish harvest festival (Feast of Weeks) commemorating the giving of the Torah on Mount Sinai, Christians see its fulfillment in the New Testament event 50 days after Jesus's resurrection.
