About the event

ree

This feast is tied to the offering of the first ripe grain (barley) once the harvest begins.

The people bring the firstfruits to the priest/environment of God. It’s an act of trust and gratitude: recognizing God as the source of the harvest, and dedicating the first portion to Him.

For Christians, it is often seen as typifying Christ’s resurrection: He is the firstfruits of those who have died (1 Cor 15:20). In the biblical plan it also points ahead to the fullness of harvest—the ingathering of people to God.
